Van Gog Nurseries gains control with IIVO

For Van Gog Nurseries, reliability is not optional - it is essential for both business continuity and daily operations. With multiple locations across the Netherlands covering seventy hectares, the company relies on stable and intelligent systems to produce cucumbers and peppers as sustainably as possible.

“With the old system, energy management was no longer working properly, especially around lighting and e-boilers,” explains Peter van Ninhuijs, Crop Specialist at Van Gog Nurseries. The limitations of the previous system (iSii) made it difficult to implement new ideas in the greenhouse. With the introduction of IIVO, those limitations disappeared, enabling more flexibility and control in daily operations.

One of the key challenges was a power limitation within the installation. Together with Hoogendoorn’s Customer Service team, specific requirements were defined, leading to the development of a new transformer control solution. This made it possible to fully automate the process. At the same time, the upgraded window control system significantly improved climate management. “I can now control humidity much better, and the windows respond much more smoothly,” Peter adds.

Beyond immediate improvements, the collaboration also led to innovation. A shared need within the sector, predicting energy consumption, resulted in the development of a new energy forecast module. The first pilot is currently running at Van Gog Nurseries, allowing the team to anticipate energy demand several days ahead.

“The collaboration has been very positive. The people at Hoogendoorn are driven to make it work, and whatever the grower needs, they actually deliver,” Peter concludes.
