For generations, Piet Vijverberg Nursery has been known for quality in ornamental horticulture. Growing dracaenas and Phalaenopsis orchids for the high-end European market requires a stable and precisely controlled climate. To prepare for the future, the family business took the next step by implementing the IIVO climate computer for data-driven growing.
"From day one, it was absolutely essential that the climate would be fully reliable," shares Maarten Diteweg, Cultivation Specialist at Piet Vijverberg Nursery.

The transition required thorough preparation. Due to the technical complexity of the greenhouse systems - including lighting, energy supply and cooling- close collaboration ensured clarity on which processes needed to perform flawlessly from day one and which could be optimized later.
To reduce risks, the new setup was fully replicated and tested in a dedicated test environment at the office. This approach ensured a controlled and efficient transition, despite the scale of the project and the large number of installations involved.
We want to be able to grow and control our operations in a more data-driven way. Hoogendoorn’s IIVO supports us in this, enabling us to better optimize our cultivation, climate, energy and internal logistics.

The result: within a single day, the entire nursery was operating on the new system. Since then, further refinements and custom functionalities have been developed, enabling increasingly data-driven operations. IIVO supports the optimization of climate control, energy use and growing processes - an important step toward future-proof greenhouse automation.
